To strengthen my skills in UX Design, I used Uizard's design/mockup software to create a working Prototype of a gardening-based social media app I called Leefly. This prototype has 5 separate navigable pages for users to explore and interact with. The app's branding and layout are all original designs I created over the span of 8 hours. Typically I would use Figma's prototyping capabilities for a project like this, however, Uizard's software feels a bit more intuitive and I would definitely recommend it for beginners in the UX/UI space.
The first step of creating the Leefly app involved extensive research into the needs and preferences of the gardening community. Surveys, user interviews, and market analysis were conducted to gain a deep understanding of the target users. This research unearthed valuable insights, such as the community's desire for a user-friendly platform to exchange gardening tips, share experiences, and access resources. Armed with this knowledge, the design process began.
The next phase centered on wireframing and sketching the initial app layout. These rough drafts were gradually refined into detailed wireframes that outlined the structure and functionality of each screen, including the Landing page, Home page, Chat, Profile, and Menu. It was crucial to ensure that the app's architecture was intuitive and that users could seamlessly navigate between different sections. Once the wireframes were validated through user testing, they served as the blueprint for creating the visual design.
The visual design phase involved crafting the interface elements, choosing a color scheme that resonated with the gardening theme, and ensuring a cohesive visual identity throughout the app. The interactions between screens were also carefully designed to create a smooth and enjoyable user experience. Finally, usability testing and feedback loops were employed to refine the prototype iteratively. This UX design project demonstrated the importance of user-centric design, from initial research to the creation of interactive prototypes, with the goal of delivering a delightful and intuitive gardening community app, Leefly, to its users.
